A great way to help out the environment is to live a Zero Waste lifestyle; a lifestyle in which you try and lessen the amount of waste you generate! Earth Week Day 5: Zero Waste Podcast Interview with Beyond the Story

Happy Earth Week!  “We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” Earth Week Day Five Interview With Ally Canales from Beyond the Story I had the pleasure of being interviewed by a fellow Be Zero Ambassador, Ally Canales. She runs an inspiring website which includes a blog and podcast that promotes female empowerment: conscious, honest, and healthy living. Her website features very open and real discussions about personal life experiences and what shapes us who we are as individuals. Her and her work inspires me greatly to be more open to viewers about personal life matters. In our interview we discussed the Zero Waste lifestyle; tips, tricks, advice, experiences, etc. We also spoke a little bit about the reality of landfills, recycling, and my recent trip to Iceland. I share my Zero Waste journey and open up about my current reality and life after my solo adventure to […]

Zero Waste Travel

Is it possible to Zero Waste travel? Well…yes and no. If you read this post, you will understand that Zero Waste does not literally mean zero waste. Currently, with the state of our economy (linear), it is impossible not to produce any amount of trash; waste happens, and always remember that it is okay. Transportation and the tourism industry are major contributors to pollution and climate change. Other than biking and walking, vehicle transportation methods generate large amounts of carbon emissions due to the burning of fossil fuels; air travel contributing the most to air pollution. The tourism industry generates an abundance of waste each year due to food, entertainment, accommodation, construction, etc. Fortunately, it is possible to lessen your trash output while wandering about. On the other hand, traveling and tourism will indeed generate waste. So, yes you can maintain your Zero Waste lifestyle and essentially “Zero Waste travel”, but to an extent. Moreover, you will most […]

Solo Female Travel: Why I Did What I Did

I quit my full-time job to solo female travel with a one-way ticket to Europe. The best thing you can do for yourself is try whatever it is you desire, no matter how afraid you are. In my opinion, it is more terrifying to sit back and wonder and let opportunities pass by with time, than it is to actually take the leap and know. Even if it fails, at least you know.   Solo Female Travel: The Idea Wanting to quit my job and travel solo was not a means of running away from my problems or escaping reality. We will always have problems no matter where we are or what we do. I do not have a bad life, therefore, I really did not have anything to run away from. I just began to see some aspects of my life follow down a monotonous, unfulfilling road that was not what I had […]

The Four Dog Defense: Distraction and Deception

Happy Doc Monday! Today’s Documentary Focus: The Human Experiment While this documentary is excellent for many reasons (real life examples from various effects of synthetic chemicals in consumer products, for example), today I want to shine light on one topic from this film: the Four Dog Defense tactic. Distraction and deception is the foundation of the Four Dog Defense.   Distraction and Deception: The Four Dog Defense Let us look more into the Four Dog Defense tactic that companies have been commonly using when scientists, health advocates, and concerned consumers began voicing their concerns for the use of man-made industrial toxic chemicals in consumer products. First Defense: “My dog does not bite.” The company denies its product is harmful. As consumers, we implicitly trust that companies will be honest and provide safe products. Companies will simply deny and discredit scientists and studies suggesting or proving their products are harmful. Without any relationship being established, a blind trust commonly exists […]
